Campus Events
Campaign activities are currently underway at schools across the country, both in our target regions and beyond.
Nine law students from Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, A.S.U., visit a total of 300 4-8 grade students at Eliseo Felix Elementary School in Goodyear, Arizona.

On March 31st the University of Miami School of Law hosted 40 minority high school students from the Orlando area who were participating in a college tour throughout Florida. Participants took part in an information session with current law students from diverse backgrounds and were given a tour of the law school.

University of Alaska Anchorage held a DiscoverLaw.org event and presentation attended by Justice Robert Eastaugh of the Alaska Supreme Court, Judge Stephanie Joannides, Color of Justice Chair, Provost Michael Driscoll and Monica Kane, Executive Assistant to the Provost. Students were invited to a Mentoring Reception and Anchorage Courthouses of the Alaska Court System.


Nova Southeastern University's DiscoverLaw Event took place on Friday, March 13th, 2009. They hosted a group of students from the Miami Carol City High School Pre-Law Magnet program.
On March 27, 2009 Campbell University School of Law hosted approximately 50 minority students from area high schools. Participants took part in a mock law class, a student panel discussion, a Juvenile Justice Project presentation, lunch, and a tour of the law building.

Students from the David Starr Jordan High School and Woodrow Wilson Senior High School visited Pepperdine University School of Law with special guest speakers Antonin Scalia, associate justice of the United States and School of Law Dean Ken Starr.



Campus Coordinators Ericka Aiken and Evelyn Miller share campaign resources with local students at the Mecklenburg Law Forum in Charlotte, NC. Michael States, the assistant dean for admissions at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Law, shows his support.


The University of Cincinnati College of Law’s Diversity Day 2009 event included a mock law school class, law student panel, minority attorney panel, and Hamilton County (OH). Municipal Court Judge Fanon Rucker served as a keynote speaker.


Wake Forest University gave prospective law students an opportunity to learn more about the study and practice of law from keynote speaker Judge Denise Hartsfield.


University of La Verne College of Law Office of Admissions and the Diversity Law Day committee hosted DiscoverLaw.org for high school students from the Catch the Dream Program, a college awareness, education and support program for juniors and seniors who would be the first in their family to attend college. Speakers at the event included Justice Douglas P. Miller, Associate Dean Juanda Daniel and Dean Allen K. Easley.


New Orleans Science and Math Charter Schools participated in Tulane University Law School's DiscoverLaw.org Day.


GEAR-UP and Liberty Partnership Program students visited Touro Law Center and were welcomed by Dean Lawrence Raful. Touro alum Major Badia gave the students a tour of the state courthouse. The students observed an arraignment and visited the lockup area.


LSAC teamed up with the Hispanic National Bar Foundation and Southwestern Law School to host the Project Access Academic Preparedness Series in Los Angeles. At this informative event, students received panel presentations and participated in break-out sessions with mentors.

Local high school students attended Chapman University School of Law's Diversity Outreach program. The students had the opportunity to meet with alumni and current students to discuss the different routes that people have taken to get to law school.

William & Mary Law School welcomed middle school students and soon broke the news that they were stranded on a deserted planet and would be responsible for planning a new society on the empty planet. With the help of law students, they proceeded to identify ideas for the new government they would establish. After covering the basics, the law students launched into an impromptu mock trial followed by a short lesson on the free speech rights of students.


American University Washington College of Law gave prospective law students an opportunity to learn more about the study and practice of law from the perspective of people who have been there.



Campus Coordinators at the University of Houston help get the word out on the yard!

Through the Legal Education Awareness Program (LEAP), four Minnesota law schools held a successful event with local high school students. Students participated in a mock law school class; viewed a mock trial; enjoyed a campus tour and received valuable law preparation guidance from a host of attorneys, prelaw organizations, and admissions representatives.


Thanks to Loyola Law Academy, sponsored by Loyola School of Law in Chicago, minority high school students learned first hand about the paths to law school and the areas of practice. The students enjoyed a law firm tour and shared a mentoring lunch with attorneys who responded to the students’ many questions.
